He married his long-time friend Althea “Thea” Ellis and they started their lives together, becoming the happy parents of three children. In May 2012, both Pastor and First Lady Russell graduated from Southern Bible College. With a vision to do positive things in the community in which he grew up, Pastor Russell founded the House of Agape, where he continues to serve. David was born in University Park but as soon as he could, he started traveling. With a love for the ocean and surfing, David traveled to 40 countries. During this time, he fell in love with teaching the gospel and the people of developing countries. In between trips he served as volunteer staff at Calvary Chapel Westside in Maui, Hawaii where he grew in the studying of God’s word. More recently he has been blessed with the task of being a husband to Alyssa Girvin and father to Piper Girvin. David’s current mission is to build a radical discipleship culture while developing “tent making” leaders to shift the church from a consumer-focused body to a body of people who sacrificially love their community and the world, while building life altering ministries of their own.
